Last weekend we hit up Dead Prez. It was a phenomenal show. The crowd was there, although I think there should have been more people there... it was a decent turnout. Lot's of good vibes and good people there. Music for Mavericks and tOUCh and Nato (with Advo) did their thing and it was nice... they held it down for Edmonton quite well. Poli Live always give us a shoutout whenever we are in attendance and that is dope. BIg ups to Poli Live and M4M. Dead Prez did what I expected... they rocked the Starlite room in a major way. The people were into it and Dead Prez held it down. When Hip Hop (It's bigger than)... came on... people went crazy. A mosh pit broke out and everyone was going off... they played a bunch of encores and their DJ busted out a crazy verse at the end which was FRESH. THe highlight for me happened backstage while meeting Stickman and M1... they were both very humble and genuine. They are the real deal and not scheming politricksters. When Khiry hailed up M1, M1 responded like he was meeting his long lost brother, someone who he has known forever and has not seen for a while. Khiry said something along the lines of "Good show sir" to which M1 replied with a genuine smile and deep look... "Thank you very much for coming tonight... it is very nice to see you... thank you for being here, thank you for your support, thank you for bringing your energy." Khiry replied with a genuine response... and M1 thanked him again... I have heard in asian cultures when two men of high standing and respect meet each other they bow to each other to show respect... and can end up bowing for a long time... although this exchange only lasted for a moment... this is what it reminded me of. This exchange really opened my eyes to how things should be. There was a real connection and genuine brotherly love... a fully engaged exchange. It was good to see the People's Poets, Shaw Langley, Jae Maze, and all the Hiphoppas... Dead Prez is the real deal.
Another year comes and gone just like that. But inbetween comes and goes there was Hip Hop in the Park which was another success! The day with very little sun,the people of edmonton still came out to take part in the 9 elements of Hip Hop.

and the B-Boy crew tore it up for another year!

The night wouldn't have been as great if this one happening didn't happen.Jae Mayes and Dirt Grittie threw some jabs @ each other after all was said and done! With Dirt Grittie pulling a devastating knockout blow to take to bout!!Wickedest battle of the entire night!!!
Part 2 May 19th Wildstyle Wednesdays!!!
Coming HOT off the Living Legends show,Locution Revolution were contacted and confirmed today that they and Politic Live will be opening for Abstract Rude Saturday May 15th!
The Saturday night was buzzing with the Living Legends in the place!Just coming from a sold out show in Saskatoon!Showing up in Edmonton can be a bit of let down compared to other cities(come on Edmonton step it up).The crowd of about 150 people were vibing and in for a good show.K-Blitz and Sonic were up first, and they did they're thing and brought some nice songs to warm the people up.Locution Revolution unleashed their new set of new songs off the new WALK TALL album,a projector and camera on the crowd!Living Legends tore it up in a sharp hype manner! But the word throughout the night was that Locution Revolution stole the show as many people couldn't believe LRT are from Edmonton!Told to LRT by Sunspot Jonz:"Had no idea!Keep doing your thing, don't stop keep pushing"!
On another note the Starlite Room is so shady as they tried to pay Living Legends $75 for they're services(Big nerve, not cool). In the end they got paid $700(should've been at least a $1000)but that was only after some words were said.Living Legends were to get 80/20 door split, but people recant faster than they can tell another lie!Hopefully Living Legends will remeber that we have some great talent and fans here in Edmonton and will come back, dispite the actions of those who can't stick to their word and buisness.Starlite remeber Hip hop doesn't need you,but as a music venue Starlite Room you need Hip hop...

Locution: a type of/or stlyle of speech... Revolution: a drastic or dramatic overthrowing or change.Coming together November of 2007, these showmen can be mistaken for superheroes, or cowboys, and also played with by many as action figures. iD, Khi-Guy, and DJ Budakron. They spanned the globe musically from Rap to Folk, over to Reggae, and forward with Soul and beyond. iD raps and harmonizes on the harmonica, while Khiry raps / sings harmony while dancing with his signature "Kain", while DJ Budakron compliments the flow with cuts of energy while caught in the moment! They have traveled throughout Western Canada and have become known as show stealers, because of their antics, dancing, crowd interaction, and no lack of skills. They are sure to impress any music lover!
Opening for the likes of the Genius (GZA), Kirby Dominant, Ira Lee!

Here are some thoughts and views about LR:
"Locution Revolution is like cold ice cream on a hot summers day"
-Katrina Bray (President and Chair of Heart of the City Festival)
"Locution Revolution is a progressive Hip-Hop trio whose lyrics remind
us of a time when songs were imaginative. With the creation of their
annual, Hip-Hop In The Park, Locution Revolution has shown their
journey in music will not only include making great songs, but building community around them simultaneously."
-Arlo Maverick (Music for Mavericks, Politic Live, CJSR)
"They happen to be a couple of the hardest-working cats in the Edmonton scene, with multiple projects on the go."
-Kevin Maimann, (Edmonton Sun)
"Tafari and his musical partner/producer iD (Locution Revolution) are known for bringing a bit of surreal flair to their live performances"
-Francois Marchand, (Edmonton Journal)
"These guys been holding it down 'round here for a minute. A hard working independent fusion of soul blues reggae and Hip Hop."
-Shortop (DJ, guest-host on Rapcity)
"Locution Revolution's iD, Khiry Tafari and DJ Budarkon are a tri-cultural musical recipe representing the progressive evolution in Canadian Hip Hop. With revolutionary songs geared in the KRS One direction which entwine the hopefulness of Bob Marley and mix in the heaviness heard by Johnny Cash, this Edmonton collective etched out and concreted a new wave of music – western Hip Hop.I anticipate their soon-to-be third release to be breaking both sound and geographical boundaries."
-Melissa Bishop(Freelance Writer,L+P Productions,Promoter)
"Locution Revolution's performance/stage show is high energy, thought
provoking rhymes, and it doesn't matter if its crowds of 200 or 1000,
They always give the same professional performance."
-DJ Heywood (DJ & Promoter)
"Locution Revolution is a shining example of the creative Hip Hop
coming out of Edmonton. they know how to rock the stage and entertain
a crowd! Khiry, iD and Budakron are fresh!"
-Vlad (Peoples Poets, Co-Founder & Owner of Solidaritees)
"LR's music has something for everyone; they are not
your average musicians. This is evident when you attend one of their
live shows; the audience is made up of people that are different ages,
styles and musical tastes."
-Stef Torres(Founder & Owner of "In 3's Tees")
